Katherine Carr Collins

May 22, 2023, 75, Goldsboro –

Katherine Carr Collins, 75, was welcomed into the presence of her Lord on Monday, May 22, 2023. Kathy was born in Wayne County to the late William Ray Carr and Everette Jinnette Carr on October 9, 1946. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Norman Collins; brothers, Bill Carr and Robert Carr; and sister, Jeanne Cupp.

Many people knew Kathy and how helpful and kind she was from working with Smith Hardware in Goldsboro. She always enjoyed being with others and this was really evidenced in her work in the church. Dedicated to her faith in Jesus Christ, Kathy worshiped alongside her family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goldsboro. Community and service in the church was top priority for Kathy throughout her life. Her service included being the Relief Society President, the Young Women’s President as well as other various ward and state callings.

Her greatest calling was to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. She found great fulfillment in caring for those whom God had entrusted to her. She was a loving and patient mother, always willing to help when needed. And her commitment to her husband was deeply rooted in her love for Jesus. Service was a part of every aspect of Kathy’s life.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Goldsboro. A service to celebrate Kathy’s life will follow at 12:00 noon in the sanctuary. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Kathy is survived by her sons, Lee Collins and wife, Emily, Chris Collins, and Eric Collins and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Tristan, Braeden, Talan, Simon, and Valleigh; sister, Jan Aycock and husband, Allen; brothers, Johnny Carr and wife, Nancy and Jim Carr and wife, Sheila; sister-in-law, Ann Collins Griffin; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews she loved very much.
