Benjamin Calvin Atkins was born on May 21, 1944, in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Jessie Ray Atkins and Virginia Woodall Atkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Ray Atkins, son Jeff (Atkins) Hailey, and daughter Nicole Kay Atkins.

Ben was a distinguished 20-year retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Cheryl Atkins, and daughters Deborah Atkins Williams (Todd), and Brenda McDonough (Brian). Grandchildren; Renee and Jessica Bass, Rachel and Rebbecca Hall, Sean, Aidan, and Jack Williams. Great granddaughter; Lennix Rascoe.
