June 14, 2023, 86, Goldsboro –

Jenettie Sasser Rains, 86, peacefully departed this life and joyously entered her eternal reward on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. She was born in Wayne County to the late Charlie and Irene Fail Sasser on March 13, 1937. In addition to her parents, Jenettie was preceded in death by her husband, Dalma Ray Rains; daughter, Jennifer Kaye Rains Worrell and sisters, Genevieve Davis and Virginia Brisco.

A longtime member of Antioch Presbyterian Church, Jenettie faithfully served her Lord in the ministries of the church. She looked forward to every church service where she could offer praise to the Lord and connect with her church family.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service to celebrate Jenettie’s life at 3:30 p.m. in the Hastings Cemetery.

Jenettie is survived by her son, George Ray Rains; grandson, Trevor Ray Worrell (Jessica Flood), great-grandson, Brodie; and a special k-9 friend and companion, Max. She is also survived by her special niece, Jill Rains, and close friends, Carol Piscopo, David Fail, Rachel Capps, and Pat Chestnutt. 

The family would like to extend special appreciation to her caregivers, Lisa Lewis, Carol Warren, and Cathy Lewis as well as Gentiva Hospice. The love shown during Jenettie’s declining health has truly been a blessing in our lives.
