On Wednesday, at approximately 2:44 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to 1807 E. Ash Street in reference to a report of a shooting.

Upon the arrival of officers, a person was located in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services responded and subsequently transported the victim, Sierra King, 36, of Goldsboro, to UNC Health Wayne for further treatment of her injuries. King was later listed as being stable.

Preliminary findings suggest the shooting was accidental. The incident occurred inside a vehicle King was sitting in. The Investigations Division responded to assume the investigation. The case still remains under investigation at this time.
