Rev. James Allen “Jack” Davis, 82, met his Savior face to face on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Jack was born in Duplin County, one of eleven children, to the late George Washington Davis and Lola Mae Summerlin Davis on July 15, 1940. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Rev. Mrs. Fannie Pearl Hill Davis.

Serving his Lord faithfully in the calling he was given, Jack served for over 44 years as the pastor of Faith Pentecostal Church. Alongside his wife, the two served their congregation and the community in which they lived. After the passing of his wife and retirement, Jack began attending worship at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro, worshipping with his church family as often as the doors were open.

With a heart that was filled with love for all, he went out of his way to do for others, sacrificing his own needs when necessary. He loved his community and family beyond compare and worked tirelessly for their benefit. Known as “Pa” to his children and grandchildren, there was no greater joy or blessing to him than to be known as a great husband, father, and grandfather.

Time spent on the water with a fishing pole in hand was the perfect pastime for Jack. Loving most sports, he was sure to help his daughter cheer on the University of Alabama football team, and he eagerly looked forward to catching every Atlanta Braves baseball game.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 3, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro. A service celebrating Jack’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. The interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Jack is survived by seven children, Patricia Davis Sasser, Janet Marie Davis, Timothy Davis (Yolanda Angelica Martinez), Melissa Danielle Davis, Jessica Davis, Brittany Cherry (Jonathon), and Patricia Davis; grandchildren to include: Zachery Allen Rayburn (Dolores), Justin Sasser, Matthew Sasser (Jennifer), Timothy Beasley, Curtis Beasley and Katie Beasley; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Leonard Davis and Kenneth Davis; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much. He is also survived by a special daughter and friend, Amy Tompkins (Eric), and family.
