During June 2023, the Goldsboro Police Department responded to several breaking and entering and felony larceny cases that were occurring at Always Available Self Storage at 416 E. New Hope Road. An unknown person had been entering storage units after hours and stealing items from inside the units.
The cases were turned over to the Goldsboro Police Department Investigations Division. Upon further investigation, a suspect, Eric Alphin, was developed. On Monday, July 3, the Goldsboro Police Department Investigations Division, with the assistance of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, served a search warrant at Mr. Alphin’s residence and recovered numerous items of stolen property that were for sale as part of a yard sale.
Mr. Alphin was arrested and charged with one count of Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny. More cases were identified, and on Wednesday, Mr. Alphin was arrested on four additional counts of breaking and entering and felony larceny. Mr. Alphin was originally given a $5,000 secured bond. He is now being held on a $30,000 secured bond. The investigation is ongoing.
