Surveillance Leads to Drug Arrest

On July 14, at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers from Goldsboro Police Department’s VICE Unit were conducting saturated patrols of the Mimosa Park neighborhood due to recent citizen complaints of drug activity.

While conducting surveillance, a suspected hand-to-hand transaction occurred between two vehicles on Green Drive. A traffic stop was conducted in the 100 block of Oak Hill Drive on one of the suspected vehicles for chapter twenty violations. VICE Unit officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Mikaleb West.

During a probable cause search of West’s vehicle, a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and approximately 947 grams of suspected marijuana were located. West was taken into custody without incident.

West was transported to the magistrate’s office, where he was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana (F), Maintaining a Vehicle for the Sale of Controlled Substances (F), and Drug Paraphernalia (M). West was held at the Wayne County Jail on a $3,000 secured bond.
