Ellen Parnell Cobb, 64, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at her home. Born in Wayne County on May 13, 1959, she was the daughter of Maxine Phillips Parnell and the late Clifton Eugene Parnell.

In addition to her mother, Ellen is survived by her husband, John Cobb; daughter, Mary Ellen Hood, and husband, Brent of Gilbert, Arizona; son, Jason Corbett of Princeton; grandchildren, Logan, Eva-Mae, and Jackson; sisters, Glenda Phillips and husband, Garry and Phyllis Kirby and husband, Jerry; brother, Thomas E. Parnell and wife, Kathy; and several nieces and nephews.

Ellen was a free spirit who loved her friends and family dearly. Her most precious title was Nana to not only her grandchildren but her extended family as well. Ellen loved music, the mountains, the beach, and crafting.

A service to celebrate Ellen’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening prior to the service from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Pittman Grove Church Cemetery in Kenly.
