July 29, 2023, 79, Mount Olive –

Doris Summerlin Benites, 79, of the Rones Chapel community died Saturday, July 29 at ECU Duplin Hospital, Kenansville. She is survived by her husband, Alejandro “Alex” Benites of the home; her daughters, Belinda Taylor of Mount Olive,  and Teresa L. Holland of Deep Run; a son, Glenn Lane of Mount Olive; her brothers, Levi Summerlin, and Adrian Summerlin, and wife Jan, and Jerry Summerlin and wife Connie all of Mount Olive; her grandchildren, Christopher Holland, Haley Quinn and her husband Stephen, Paige Jackson and her husband Matthew; great-grandchildren, Stella and Kannon Quinn, Presley Jackson, and Alexandria Reyes; Doris is also survived by a special family friend, Cindy Reyes.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; Buckner “Buck” and Lillie Mae Grady Summerlin; her son, John Robert Lane; her siblings, Joan Holmes, Daisy Jean Farrior, Clara Lee Garner, Buddy Summerlin, and Julia Miller.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 3, at three o’clock in the afternoon at the Mount Olive Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. Bishop Brent Heath will officiate with burial following in the Wilson Family Cemetery of the Calypso community. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm and at other times at the home of Mrs. Doris.
