Edna Earle Smith House, 81, of the Beautancus community, Mount Olive, passed away Tuesday evening, August 1, 2023.

Services will be Friday, August 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Bear Marsh Baptist Church and will be officiated by the Rev. Paul Rose and James Allen Smith. Visitation will follow the service. Committal and burial will be Saturday, August 5, at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. House was a long-time member of Bear Marsh Church. She was employed by the Moses King family at Mount Olive Piggly Wiggly for 31 years, retiring as office manager. She also worked for 12 years at Mount Olive Middle School in the cafeteria.

Surviving family includes three children, Sharon House Lee of Mount Olive, Pam House Lindsay of Mount Olive, and William Austin House, Jr. and special friend, Michelle Holmes, of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Amanda Lee Lambert and husband, Garrrett, of Faison, Lindsay Lee Ginn and husband, Jason, of Rose Hill, Chelsey Lee Best and husband, William Best III, of Faison, and Anna Lindsay of Chattanooga, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Lambert, Savannah lambert, Jaxon Ginn, Callee Jayne Ginn, Ethan Wiggins, Liam Best, Paislee Best, and Autumn Best; her in-laws, B. A. and Colene House of Bickmore, West Va.,. and Ann H. and Bill Woolard of Goldsboro; many nieces and nephews from both the Smith and House families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Austin House; her parents, Harvey Allen Smith and Frankie Williamson Smith; and her six brothers, Raymond, Robert, John R., Bill, Harold, and Donald Smith.

The family extends special thanks to her special caregivers including Carrie, Amanda, Chassida, Amy, and Trish.
