Betty Joyce Broadhead, 89, passed away from natural causes on August 5, 2023, on her 89th birthday.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Seymour Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Viewing will also be on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 10:00- 10:45 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1000 Eleventh Street, Goldsboro with the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at the church. The interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Betty was born in Jasper, Alabama to James Paul Sanford and Amma Barrentine. She married Joe Nathan Broadhead on June 15, 1953. They had three boys: Stephen Paul, Howard Wayne, and Michael Ray.
Betty worked for the Social Security Administration for 25 years. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various capacities. She loved working with the young women in her younger years and working with the adult sisters in her later years. She was humble, compassionate, and generous to all.
She joins her husband, Joe Broadhead, who preceded her in death in 2015. She is survived by her three sons, Steve and wife Laura of Clayton, NC, Wayne and wife Kathy of Jessup, GA, and Mike and wife Susan Jane of Newnan, GA; eleven grandchildren, Lindsay Jones and spouse Cameron; Shelley Sears; Stephen Broadhead and spouse Beth; Amber Barlow and spouse Travis; Dusty Broadhead and spouse, Haylee; Ryan Broadhead and spouse Hilary; Nathan Broadhead and spouse Laura; Ben Broadhead and spouse, Ashley; Kelsey Broadhead; Daniel Broadhead; and Andrew Broadhead; eighteen great-grandchildren, Owen, Samuel, Frank, Eli, Remy, Linkyn, Caroline, Francis, Adelyn, Lila, Beckham, Everett, Kinzlee, Kyra, Everest, Emmit, Katelynn, and William; and one brother, Buddy Sanford, and several nieces and nephews.
