August 11, 2023, 72, Goldsboro —
Annalee Scott Griffin, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Friday, August 11, 2023. Annalee was born July 24, 1951, in Washington, DC to the late Raymond Becton Scott and Margaret Elizabeth Lyle.
Annalee Griffin was a leader who forged her own path and worked to change the landscape around her. She ran the Goldsboro License Plate Agency, beginning in January 1997. Her heart was for the community and this was evident by the boards she served. Annalee served on the board of Wayne County Social Services and on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity. It was her passion to help others and lift them up. She was the first female member of the Goldsboro Exchange Club. She did not let anything limit her ability to take care of others.
Annalee worshiped and was a member of First Baptist Church in Goldsboro. She was able to continue her passion for service at First Baptist. Her greatest love, though, was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Through all of her successes, nothing compared to her family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. Inurnment will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Annalee is survived by her husband, Ronnie Griffin; sons, James Griffin, Michael Griffin, Jeffrey Griffin and wife, Sheila; daughters, Mary Julia Wells and Laura Meyer and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Maggie Schilling, Mary Schilling, Wade Mandeville, Braydon Meyer, and Shawn Griffin; and her sister, Maryanne Stanley and husband, Johnny.
