Edward Franklin “Ed” Long, 68, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Goldsboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Born in Wayne County on November 19, 1954, he was the son of the late Major and Mable Sasser Long.

Ed is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Long Smith and Edna Faye Long LaPean; and several nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

Ed was an avid bowler at Boulevard Lanes in Goldsboro. His bright personality earned him the title of the “Mayor of Elroy.”

No formal services will be held. The family will gather for a private interment at a later date at the Grady Family Cemetery.
