George Griffin Grandy, Jr., age 83, passed away on Thursday morning at the Greendale Forest Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Snow Hill, NC. Born in Wayne County, NC, he was the son of the late George G. Grandy, Sr. and Estelle Carraway Grandy and the husband of the late Ruth Croom Grandy. He was a retired postman with the United States Postal Service in New York.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park. A time of visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. 

Mr. Grandy is survived by his son, Chris Grandy; and his daughters, Felicia Norman and Annette Grandy. Also surviving are his siblings Eugene Grandy, Earlene Grandy Coleman, Fressie Grandy, Raymond Grandy, Mary Grandy, James Grandy, Eveline Grandy, Brenda Adkins & Angeline G., Williams. Mr., Grandy also is survived by his Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, & a host of extended family

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, Curtis Grandy and Kevin Grandy.
