Charles Thomas “Tom” Smith passed away at his home on Thursday, August 24, 2023. Tom was born in Wayne County to Ann D. Smith and the late Charles R. “Bob” Smith on April 12, 1971.

Tom was born the baby of the family but quickly forged his own path. He had a natural gift for mechanics and engineering. Tom could build anything out of a set of Legos. He could easily figure out problems in mechanics that confounded others. This became his career, he worked hard and lived out his giftedness.

Tom found his peace and joyful moments while fishing and hunting. This was one of the places he could relate to others and show his own way of love. He also had a way of making others laugh, always the jokester.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at the cemetery at Seven Springs Methodist Church. A time of visitation will follow. Tom’s daughter requests all in attendance come casually and wear NC State red.

Tom is survived by his children, Wesley T. Smith and Addison J. Smith; mother, Ann D. Smith; sister, Kaye Smith; sister-in-law, Donna Smith; and aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were more like family. In addition to his father, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Ivey Smith, and his grandparents.
