Martha Raye Boswell, 85, of Kinston, NC, and recently of Pampa, TX, passed away on August 25, 2023, in Pampa.
Martha was born on January 17, 1938, in La Grange, NC to Leslie and Claribel Dawson. She grew up and attended school in LaGrange. After high school, she entered college, attaining a degree in education. Martha would meet Rev. Dr. Bill R. Boswell and they married on February 23, 1958. Martha and Rev. Boswell would travel to help spread the gospel in states including Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska. Rev. Boswell preceded her in death after 63 beautiful years of marriage.
Martha worked in education for many years as a first-grade teacher and as a Dyslexia therapist. She enjoyed various pastimes that included music, singing and playing piano, crocheting, needlepoint, and antique shopping. The most important things in her life were God, her family- especially the grandchildren & great-grandchildren, the multiple children she helped with Dyslexia, and her dogs. Martha will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A service of love and remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 2, 2023 with Rev. Doug Stokes officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Committal will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her sisters.
Martha is survived by two daughters, Robin Boswell Whinery and husband Orville, Jr., and Heather Fitzgerald and husband Bart; grandchildren, Angel Whinery, Dakota Whinery, Kaycee Karla Brown and husband Cody, Kasey Lynn Whinery, Lexxi Whinery, LeRoy Wyatt Whinery, Dawn Fitzgerald Andre and husband Russ, Jada Fitzgerald Brekeen and husband Brock, Rebecca Fitzgerald Rousselle and husband Travis; and nine wonderful great-grandchildren.
