GPD Labor Day Welfare Check Turns Into Death Investigation

On Sept. 4 at approximately 5:29 p.m., officers from the Goldsboro Police Department were dispatched to 410 W. Ash St. in reference to a welfare check.

The caller at this address stated that his cousin had possibly drank too much and was unresponsive. Officers and E.M.S. arrived on the scene, and E.M.S. pronounced the victim, Lawrance Walls, 57, deceased at 5:44 p.m.

The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and responded to the scene. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
