Cynthia “Cindy” Jean O’Brien, 66, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Goldsboro. Born on February 6, 1957, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Gloice Robert “Cull” Pitts and Dorothy Jean Grumling.

Cindy was a woman with a huge heart and an infectious laugh that when you heard it you couldn’t help but smile. Her baby blue eyes sparkled for her family which were her entire world. She was known to many as Mom, whom she also loved so much.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Andrew O’Brien; daughters, Heather O’Brien, and Bridget Llewellyn and husband, Mike of NC; her brother, Ronnie Pitts and wife, Ginger of AK; sisters, Linda Karnes and Danny of OR, Andrea Montgomery and Gloria McMillian, both of FL; step-sisters, Yalanda Dill and Michelle Neal and husband, Rodney of TN; her grandchildren, Lucas and Allie Llewellyn of NC and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Frances O’Brien, and her stepmother, Vivian Pitts.
