Funeral services for Ralph Burkett, age 97, of Goldsboro, NC, formerly of Humboldt, TN, will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in the Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home Chapel in Tennessee.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until service time.

Mr. Burkett, a retired engineer for the Tennessee Highway Department, US Air Force Veteran, Mason, and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Humboldt passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.

Mr. Burkett and his wife, Mary Helen, moved to Brookdale Country Day Assisted Living in Goldsboro in December 2021 to be near family.

Mr. Burkett is survived by a daughter, Lanell Boyett and her husband, Bruce Boyett of Leland, NC and Mountain City, TN; a granddaughter, Alea Uzzell and her husband, Parker Uzzell of Goldsboro, NC; a grandson, Stephen Boyett and his wife, Corey Boyett of Rocky Point, NC; and three great-grandchildren McKinley Uzzell and Mary Rachel Uzzell of Goldsboro, NC and Colton Boyett of Rocky Point, NC.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Burkett; parents, Rube and Blanche Burkett; two sisters, Alma Burkett and Lois Brown; and six brothers, Acie Burkett, Harry Burkett, Hershel Burkett, Billy Burkett, Marvin Burkett and Ben Burkett.
