SEVEN SPRINGS – Spring Creek defeated former Carolina 1-A Conference rival Rosewood 5-4 in a tightly contested girls’ tennis match on Sept. 25.
Emily Williams, Emma Gainey, Kennedy Denton, and Kennedy Harrison each earned a singles victory for the Gators.
Haley Tadlock and Missy Melrose picked up singles victories for the Eagles.
The teams of Melrose and Karolina Pittman and Sadie Raper and Georgia Brogden both collected doubles wins for Rosewood.
The tandem of Williams and Lopez picked up a doubles victory to secure the match for Spring Creek.
“It was a great match,” Rosewood head coach Daniel Baynes said. “Congratulations to Coach Robert Jones and his girls on the big win! It came down to doubles, we won two of three, but still could not pull out the match. We’re looking forward to finishing the season strong and heading into the playoffs. I’ve got two seniors, Haley Tadlock, and Missy Melrose. They are hitting their stride and finishing strong as we look forward to making a dent in the NCHSAA 1-A playoffs starting in October.”
