September 27, 2023, 78, Goldsboro —

Cornelia Dykes “Sue” Haddock, 78, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at ECU Health Medical Center. Born in Columbus, Georgia on July 3, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Covey and Naomi Atkinson Bryson.

Sue is survived by her husband of 63 years, Phil Haddock; children, Naomi McMillin (Mark), Phillip Lee Haddock, Jr. (Heidi), and James Daniel Haddock (Kerry); grandchildren, Alicia Havens, Kenneth McMillin, Phillip Lee Haddock, III, Doug McMillin, Danielle Mooring, Richard McMillin and Francis Haddock; and 10 great-grandchildren with the anticipation of another great-grandchild.

Sue was the owner and operator of Sue’s Place which was a sought-after baseball card shop in Kinston. Her friendly demeanor afforded her many friends and loyal customers.

An avid quilter, Sue operated a quilting business in her home for many years. Her family and friends were the benefactors of many of her handmade quilts. Sue’s seamstress skills came in handy to those around her as she was often called upon to both make and mend garments. Always one to stay occupied, she enjoyed taking care of her loved ones and beloved pets.

A private service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Greg Kincaid officiating.
