Mrs. Ruth Holland Westbrook of the Mount Olive area, at the age of 97, completed her life’s journey on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Visitation will be Friday, September 29, beginning at  10 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with services to follow at 11 a.m.  Officiating will be the Rev. Richard Hill.  Burial at Wayne Memorial Park will conclude the service.

Mrs. Westbrook was a native of the Beautancus community near Mount Olive and it was there that she lived most of her life.  She was the last surviving member of the immediate family of her late parents, Jim and Lela Goodson Holland.  Her siblings and their spouses, all deceased, include Audrey H. and Walter “Tupp” Faulk, Colon and Virginia Holland, Glanton and Thelma Holland, and Foster and Marie Holland.    She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Dewey “J.D.” Westbrook; an infant son, James Rex Westbrook; and infant triplet great-grandchildren, Jack, Olivia, and Grace Becker.

Surviving family members are her two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn W. and Stevan Becker of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Judy W. Padgett of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Dean Becker and wife, Keri, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Joy Schulte and Christine Becker, both of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Julie Mills and husband, Kevin, of Apple Valley, Minnesota; and great-grandchildren, Griffen Becker, Kaeleah May Schulte, Miles Becker, Priya Smith, Grayson Mills, and Evelyn Mills.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and their families.

Mrs. Westbrook had been a farmwife and homemaker., and she assisted her husband in the operation of a country store that they maintained for a period of time.  She was a lifelong member of Rones Chapel United Methodist Church and had been quite active in various church activities.
