Troy Thompson

October 4, 2023, 46, Seven Springs —

May 25, 1977 – October 4, 2023

Troy Thompson, 46, beloved father, son, and friend, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Troy was born in Wayne County to Pam Price and the late Bobby Thompson on May 25, 1977. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Malena Schimmel.

Troy’s life was centered around his deep faith. He fervently put God first in all things. He was a dedicated member of Daly’s Chapel Church, serving diligently as a Deacon, sharing his voice in the choir, and passionately engaging in any church projects. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but if you knew Troy, no image is needed to recall his generous spirit, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family, community, and faith.

With a spirit of generosity and the heart of a servant, Troy dedicated himself to service with the Seven Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need, his actions spoke well of his true nature. One of the highest sources of pride for Troy was being able to serve the fire department along with his son, Mason.

Troy’s dedication to his children, Mason and Mackenzie, is unmatched. He was first and foremost a loving father, always present and guiding with patience and wisdom. Troy loved his whole family deeply and sought to put their needs above his own to ensure their wellbeing and happiness.

Friendship with Troy was a gift; he never passed judgment and was the epitome of loyalty and trustworthiness. Friendship with Troy was easy, as he could strike up a conversation with anyone. Never meeting a stranger, those who entered his presence became fast friends. His vast knowledge of vehicles was nothing short of impressive, as he was capable of identifying details about any model presented to him.

Troy’s generosity knew no bounds. He truly embodied the sentiment of “give you the shirt off his back”, and his acts of service will be remembered by all fortunate enough to have known him.

A service of love and remembrance will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Seven Springs Volunteer Fire Department with Pastor Scott Satterfield officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In honor of Troy, the family requests that those attending come in casual attire.

In addition to his mother, Troy is survived by his children, Mason Thompson and Mackenzie Thompson; girlfriend, Tammy Richey and her family; brother, Christopher Thompson; nephew, Zane Thompson; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his fellow firefighters at Seven Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
