Elizabeth Thornhill Mayo passed peacefully at her home in Raleigh, NC in the arms of her loving parents and surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, and is now in the arms of Jesus.
A service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held privately at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont, North Carolina with Dr. David Hailey presiding.
Elizabeth is survived by her parents, George Edward Mayo IV and Gilson Thornhill Mayo; brother, George Edward Mayo V; paternal grandmother, Rebecca Cole Mayo; maternal grandparents, Fred and Fabian Thornhill; great-grandmothers, Virginia Hill Cole and Betty Griffin; as well as her beloved aunt, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dr. George Edward Mayo III.
