William Glenn Mewborn, 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Wayne County on January 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Carl Warren and Rosa Darden Mewborn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Gaynell Holmes.
Glenn is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie M. and Robert Steven Hames of Asheboro and Pamela M. and Howard Smith of Goldsboro; granddaughter, Amy Hames Jackson; great-grandchildren, Arianna Jackson and Alex Greenfield; sister, Ann Mewborn Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Glenn was a lifelong farmer raising crops and livestock. He enjoyed being outdoors working the land, hunting, and fishing.
Glenn was a lifetime member of Yelverton Methodist Church. He was very active at his church, serving on numerous committees over the years.
A service to celebrate Glenn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and at other times at the home.
