After losing the Goldsboro Mayor’s race by six votes, Raymond Smith Jr. has asked the Wayne County Board of Elections for a recount.

The recount is being held on Monday at the Wayne County Board of Elections office at 309 East Chestnut Street in Goldsboro. The public can view the recount on Zoom by using:

On Nov. 17, the Wayne County Board of Elections announced they had finished counting provisional, mail-in, write-in, and international absentee ballots from the Nov. 7 municipal election. After all the ballots were counted, Charles Gaylor received 49.94 percent of the votes in the Mayor’s race. Smith earned 49.80 percent of the votes.
