November 27, 2023, 70, Mount Olive —

Ruby Frances Pate Holmes, 70, of the Summerlin’s Crossroads community near Mount Olive, died Monday, November 27, 2023, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Frances had worked at National Spinning Co. prior to her yielding to disability.  For most of her life, she worshipped at Brock’s Chapel Church.

Frances is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Holmes Rakela-Miner and husband, Gary Miner, of Angier; a brother, Jimmy F. Pate of Mount Olive; seven grandchildren, Chase Deaver, Shane Deaver, Skyler Wellington, Sterling Wellington, Caden Rakela, Bridgett Miner, and Christopher Ty Rakela; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces, Christy Pate Jones and Heather Pate; and a nephew, C. J. Pate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Drifty Wayne Holmes; her parents, Yulis Ray “Teener” Pate and Ruby Jarman Pate; and a sister, Myrtle Pate Price.

Visitation will take place Thursday evening, November 30, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home.  Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Lamarr Jackson, will be Friday, December 1, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow in the Pate Cemetery.
