Billy Ray Sullivan, Sr., 80, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Johnston County on December 19, 1942, he was the son of the late R.B. Sullivan and Mettie Lou Crocker Sullivan

For many years, Billy worked for himself as a subcontractor. His most precious joy in life was his family. His love for them knew no bounds and each moment spent together with them was a memory he cherished forever. Billy was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate Billy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church. The family will greet friends prior to the service, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Internment will follow in the church cemetery.

Billy is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Horne Sullivan of Middlesex; children, Billy Ray Sullivan, Jr. and wife, Christy of Dunn, Cristy Miles and husband, Johnny of Zebulon, and Bradley Sullivan and wife, Melissa of Middlesex; stepchildren, Sharon Wright and husband, Roger of South Carolina, and Richard “Ricky” Barnes and wife, Vicky of Middlesex; grandchildren, Jordan Sullivan, Derek Miles, Tyler Miles, Alayna Sullivan, and Kaylee Sullivan; 10 step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Billy is also survived by his siblings, Vicky Bailey of Middlesex, Patricia Godwin and husband, W.N, of Middlesex, and Tim Sullivan and wife, Jan of Middlesex.

In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his son, Robert Dale Sullivan; grandchildren, Brianna Strickland, Steven Strickland, and Chasity Knox; and brothers, Cremo Sullivan, Doug Sullivan, and Johnny Wayne Sullivan.
