Shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday, “C” Shift Officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to 1615 S. John St. for a shooting report. 

When the officers arrived, they found Vincent Kornegay, 45, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Kornegay was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and initiated an investigation. 

During the course of the investigation, a suspect was developed. The suspect, Tyrone Dontrez Garner, 33, of Goldsboro, was charged with one count of first-degree murder.  Garner was arrested without incident at 107 Day Circle.
