Barbara Ann Stocks Taylor, 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, January 29, 2024. And her Lord said, “Well done thy good and faithful servant”. She was born in Pitt County on March 8, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Zeno Marvin and Christine Avery Stocks. Barbara loved the Lord with all her heart. Barbara was a lifelong member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for many years.

She loved her family but especially her babies. She was specifically put on this earth to love and care for babies. She was known as Grandma and Maymay to her family and to all the children she kept over the years, she was Mrs. Barbara and Aunt B. She spent most of her life loving and taking care of babies.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alvin Cornelius Taylor. He was the love of her life, and she was his. They loved each other with everything in them. Their children cannot remember a time when they had a “real” argument or even a harsh word between them. Her daughters, Mary Kay Newcomb (Eddie), and Tina Mitchell (Troy), also survive Barbara. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren, Kelly Kornegay (Tommy); Drew Sykes (Ashley); Chelsey Sykes (Jonah); Tiffany Wells (Dylan); Tiffany Sweigert (Zach); Chris Stallings; Matthew, Josh, and Dustin Mitchell.  Her great-grandchildren, Kayden Newcomb, Avery Pearl Spencer, Tank Kornegay, Guage Norris, Madilyn, Rylen and Maisie Sykes, Daniel, and Kaylee Sykes, Jordan and Aldon Wells, Colton Sweigert, and Leo Mitchell. Barbara is also survived by her sister Marjorie Carter of Atkinson, NC, many nieces and nephews and cousins, and sisters-in-law. She is also survived by two very special friends, Faye Pate, and Louise (Ma) Ham.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her three brothers, Marvin, David, and Marshall Stocks, and her only great-great-granddaughter, Adalyn Kornegay.
