The Goldsboro High School girls basketball team was recognized during Monday evening’s Goldsboro City Council meeting.
Councilman Roderick White read a proclamation that highlighted the Lady Cougars 2023-24 season which concluded with a 23-3 record, including a 10-2 record in Neuse 2-A Conference.
The proclamation also pointed out the academic achievements of the Lady Cougars with multiple members of the team earning spots on the school’s Honor Roll and Principal’s List. Numerous team members have grade point averages over 4.0, and the team has a cumulative GPA of 3.93.
Goldsboro also has team members who are leaders in clubs and organizations in the school including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Student Government Association.
The proclamation declared Mar. 4, 2024, as a day of congratulations and recognition for the Goldsboro High School Lady Cougars 2024 basketball team.
Goldsboro’s season ended on Friday night with a 58-45 loss to Northeastern in the second round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2-A state playoffs.
