Attempted Murder Suspect Turns Herself In

The Goldsboro Police Department’s search for an attempted murder suspect came to a close on Tuesday evening as Zenya Lashie Jones, 21, Dudley, turned herself in at approximately 5:20 p.m. at the Goldsboro Police Department.

The Goldsboro Police Department announced on Mar. 1 that a warrant for Jones’ arrest had been issued for the attempted murder of Mikayla Yelverton, 23, Goldsboro.

On Feb. 15 at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert and subsequent shooting in the 400 block of Hollowell Ave.

Upon the officer’s arrival, they located Mikayla Yelverton, 23, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and rendered aid.

Yelverton was subsequently transported to UNC Health Wayne and then to ECU Health. She is stable and still recovering.
