On Thursday morning at approximately 8:34, officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the area of Olivia Lane and Audubon Avenue about a ShotSpotter alert.

Once on the scene, officers located Bennell Garner, 39 Goldsboro, and Latesha Pearsall, 32, with gunshot wounds.

Garner and Pearsall were transported to UNC Health Wayne and then subsequently transferred to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment.

Investigations and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to initiate an investigation. Both victims are currently listed in critical condition. The investigation is still in the early stages so no further information will be released at this time.

This incident appears to be an isolated event with no ongoing threat to the public.
