For the first time in NTA history, the ASC received the Program Excellence Award in the two-year category for the third year. This award is granted to programs providing superior service to students.

“The ASC continues to provide exemplary service in multiple formats to the students of WCC,” ASC Director Brandy Daingerfield said.

Daingerfield was presented with the Professional Development Award for a project that coincides with a proposal she submitted last year. This project will provide mentors for peer tutors who participate in the service-learning action research project Daingerfield is developing.

Professional Math Tutor Michael McCrae received the 2023 Tutor Profile in Courage Award. This honor is given to a tutor who has overcome significant hardships in the past year while providing superior service to help students. A few months after being recognized for the award, McCrae passed away. His award will be displayed in the ASC and presented in his honor to his family at a later date.

Professional Business and Accounting Tutor Conrad Artis was recognized as Tutor of the Year for outstanding work with students in the 2022–2023 academic year.

Daingerfield credits her team for the success of the ASC. “From a supervisory standpoint, it makes my job incredibly easy to manage because they move as one and create a sense of unity for the students,” she said.
