A Goldsboro man has been arrested with no bond and is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, following a shooting that occurred on Thursday.
On Thursday morning at approximately 8:34, officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the area of Olivia Lane and Audubon Avenue about a ShotSpotter alert.
Once on the scene, officers located Bennell Garner, 39 Goldsboro, and Latesha Pearsall, 32, with gunshot wounds.
Garner and Pearsall were transported to UNC Health Wayne and then subsequently transferred to ECU Health for further treatment.
Investigations and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to initiate an investigation. Garner and Pearsall are currently listed in critical condition.
Azia Cobb, 39, and a one-year-old male have also been identified as victims.
On Friday, after further investigation into this shooting, warrants were secured on James Edward Darden, 34, of Goldsboro.
Darden was charged with four counts of attempted murder, three counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, and three counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle causing serious bodily injury.
Darden was taken into custody at approximately 4:30 p.m. by investigators at the Goldsboro Police Department.
Darden was transported to the Wayne County Magistrate’s office for the warrants to be served. Darden was left in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center under no bond pending a first appearance on Monday.
