March 8, 2024, 81, Goldsboro —
Barbara Ann Head Dawson, 81, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, March 8, 2024. Born in Wayne County on March 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Barry Head and Beulah Chase Head.
Ann served her Lord faithfully as a member of Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Living out her faith in daily life, she often spoke of her love for her Lord and Savior. An avid reader of many genres, her daily Bible readings were always a top priority. Time with family and friends was precious to Ann, and she simply adored her two grandsons. Known for her excellent cooking ability, she looked forward to every opportunity to gather loved ones around her table. Though anything that came from Ann’s kitchen was superb, her strawberry cake was beyond compare.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Whitfield officiating. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Ann is survived by her son, Gene Dawson, and wife, Kim; grandsons, Jacob Dawson and wife, Peyton and Christian Dawson (Sydney Edmundson).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Dawson, Sr.; sisters, Gladys Mason, Thelma Davis, and Joyce Newcomb; and her brothers, Linwood Head, Pete Head, and Milton Head.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caring staff at Wilson Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the constant care and attention they provided. Additionally, her daughter-in-law, Kim was a true God-send, attending all doctor appointments with her and making sure she had everything she needed .
