Debra Williams Thompson, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 25, 2024, at her home in Mt. Olive, NC. She was born in Hertford County to the late Herman and Kay Williams on October 11, 1958. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Victoria Thompson.

Debra was a compassionate and dedicated nurse at Wayne UNC Healthcare who devoted her life to caring for others. She had a fulfilling career in healthcare, touching countless lives with her kindness, expertise, and commitment to her patients.

In addition to her nursing career, Debbie was a talented artisan who found joy in crafting beautiful handmade creations. Whether it was knitting cozy blankets, making diamond dot creations, or making homemade Christmas decorations she poured her creativity and passion into every project. Her handmade gifts were treasured by family and friends, each piece a testament to her love and thoughtfulness.

Family was at the center of Debbie’s life, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Above all else, Debbie was a devoted grandmother whose love knew no bounds. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. One of her greatest joys was spoiling them with her time and attention. Her warm smile, gentle touch, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Gateway Community Church in Pikeville followed by a service to celebrate Debra’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Thayer Stamper officiating.

Debra is survived by her daughter, Miranda Pejera of Durham; son, William Thompson of Raleigh; grandchildren, Logan Pejera, Mason Pejera, Haley Pejera, and Daniel Meffen; sisters, Kathy Whitley and Margie McKittrick; and many nieces and nephews she loved very much.
