WCC Agriculture and Natural Resources Department to Hold Open House

Wayne Community College’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Department will hold an open house for those who may be interested in enrolling in its programs from 6 p.m. to 8 on Apr. 18.

Individuals interested in the College’s Agribusiness Technology, Applied Animal Science Technology, Turfgrass Management Technology, Forestry Management Technology, and Sustainable Agriculture programs will be able to tour learning areas and engage in a question-and-answer session with the department’s faculty.

Attendees will meet at the Lamm Agriculture Complex (located at the back of the campus) and tour the greenhouses, green machines, garden, green, softball field, and other lab areas to get an idea of the hands-on learning they will experience as students.

The Q&A will follow in Rooms 205/209/223 in the Magnolia Building. View a map on WCC’s website.

WCC’s Agriculture and Natural Resources programs give students a high-quality learning experience, with state-of-the-art learning labs and opportunities to transfer to four-year colleges to pursue bachelor’s and graduate degrees.

Agriculture and Natural Resources Department Chair Gabe Mitchell says employers from Wayne and surrounding counties are constantly seeking to hire graduates and current students from WCC’s programs.

“There are so many jobs out there, and we need students to fill the positions,” said Mitchell, who is also an alumnus of the department. “If you’re interested in a career in anything related to agriculture, this is the place to start.”

The event is free and open to the public to attend with no registration required. Visit the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department’s webpage for more information on each program.

WCC encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing accommodations or have questions about access, contact the Accessibility Counselor at (919) 739-6729.
