On Thursday at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to Walmart at 1002 N. Spence Ave. regarding a shots fired call.

As officers were responding to the area, another 911 caller stated that there was an unresponsive male subject in a vehicle in the parking lot.

Officers located the subject and requested EMS. Once on the scene, EMS pronounced the subject deceased. Investigators and crime scene specialists responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.

The preliminary investigation shows the victim died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The deceased subject was a 60-year-old man from Goldsboro.
