On Saturday, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a 911 call at 303 East Elm Street.

The caller requested help for a man who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found Tyrone Lee Hicklin, 56, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. EMS transported the victim to UNC Health Wayne for treatment. Hicklin was transferred to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment.

On Sunday, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Goldsboro Police Department was notified by ECU Health that Hicklin had succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
