On Monday, at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1000 block of Lincoln Drive.

Upon arriving in the area, officers located a victim, Preston Chestnut Jr., 18, Goldsboro, with an apparent gunshot wound.

EMS transported Chestnut Jr. to UNC Health Wayne for treatment. Chestnut Jr. was transferred to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment and is currently in serious condition.

During the shooting incident, an occupied residence in the 1000 block of Lincoln Drive sustained damage from a bullet. The investigation is ongoing.
