May 29, 2024, 97, Goldsboro —
It is with great sorrow that we announce that Dorothy Weber Barnack, 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday night at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro with her daughter by her side.
Dorothy was born to the late Leo Weber and Mary Zimmel Weber in Belle River, MN. She was also preceded in death by her husband Delbert Barnack, three children, Steven Leo Barnack, Nancy Kay Goode, and Roger Duane Barnack, and 5 brothers and sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Mary Barnack of Goldsboro, her grandchildren, Gregory F. Givens and wife Amber, Meredith M. Givens and husband Cody, Andrew R. Givens and wife Laura, Christopher Barnack and wife Britny, and Mirinda Barnack, five great-grandchildren: Emma, Jaxon, Hunter, Christie, and Harper.
Dorothy spent her early years in Alexandria, MN, where she met and married Delbert. As their family grew, they resided in several northern states, eventually settling in Murfreesboro, NC, where Delbert operated Panyl of NC and later his own paneling companies. After Delbert’s death in 2015, Dorothy continued to live independently in Murfreesboro until she decided to live with her daughter Mary in Cary, NC, and later in Goldsboro, NC.
Dorothy was the best stay-at-home mom, but, when their offspring had sprung, she filled her time by operating a mini storage facility in Ahoskie, NC. She was an avid seamstress, crafter, and quilter and loved shopping and dining out with her good friends Ruthie Plaunty, Ann Creasy, Betty Smith, and her grown children.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Meherrin Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, NC.
