May 30, 2024, 90, Goldsboro —
Mose Lanaville departed this life and joyously entered his eternal reward on Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born in Gurley, Michigan to the late David and Celina Wery Lanaville on December 17, 1933. In addition to his parents, Mose was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Carol Jean Kearney Lanaville, and six of his siblings.
A deep love for our country was engrained into Mose’s being. Serving with both the United States Air Force and the United States Army for a total of 21 years, Mose retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Serving in two wars, Vietnam and Korea, and traveling all over the world, his devotion to his country was strong and fierce. Following his distinguished career, he continued to work as a plumber serving those who called upon him.
Mose’s service went beyond his role of serving our country, as he faithfully served as a member of the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge #634 A.F. & A.M. and as a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His family was at the forefront of all he did. The needs of his wife, children, and family were always placed before his own. Mose worked hard to be a good provider, husband, father, son, and brother.
With a love of nature and the outdoors, Mose found peace and comfort whenever he was in the woods or a field. In later years nothing made him happier than being on the front porch looking at God’s beauty.
Second to that it was hunting and fishing. Whether it would be deer or ducks he loved to be in the woods. Mose also enjoyed the opportunity to be on the water fishing and feeling a tug on the line.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1416 Boyette Drive, Goldsboro. A service to celebrate Mose’s life will be held by the graveside at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in the Mewborn Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mose is survived by sons, David Mose Lanaville and Wade Morgan Lanaville; daughter, Diane Carol Smith; grandchildren, Joshua Mose Lanaville (Sharon), Christa Jewel Lanaville, Anthony Kirby Smith (Whitney) and Amanda Kasie Smith; and great-grandchildren, Leslie Waters, Laney Waters, Logan Smith, Lucas Smith, and Lance Smith.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
