On Friday at approximately 8:46 a.m., the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a call regarding a suspicious package in the 2400 block of E. Ash Street.
Officers arrived in the area and observed the package. The immediate area was evacuated and traffic was diverted out of an abundance of caution for the public.
The Goldsboro Fire Department, Wayne County OES/EMS, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to assist.
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base EOD responded and subsequently deemed the package safe.
The Goldsboro Police Department thanks the aforementioned agencies for their response and assistance, as well as the public and business owners in the area for their patience.
The investigation regarding the origins of the package is ongoing.
