Penie Ann Whitman Smith, 80, passed away on Tuesday evening at Sutton’s Retirement Center, where she has been residing over the last few years. Penie was born in Wayne County to the late Jim Jeffrey Whitman and Pennie Belle Weeks Whitman on January 21, 1944. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Woodrow Smith.

A graveside service to celebrate Penie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, in Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs, NC.

Penie is survived by her sisters, Virginia Creech of Mount Olive and Mary Louise Holmes of Shallotte; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
