June 24, 2024, 71, Goldsboro —

With Sincere Compassion and Understanding, we, the Management and staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors, join with the Brown and connected families to announce the earthly transition of Ms. Polly Brown, 71, of Goldsboro, Ms. Brown transitioned at the Helping Hands Assisted Living, Goldsboro, NC.

Sister Polly Ann Russell Brown, known to some as ( Polly Wally) was born in Lenoir County, NC, on October 25, 1952, to the late Eldora Russell. Polly was the second of four children.

Sister Polly Ann Russell Brown, known to some as Polly Wally, was a beacon of spiritual influence. Her love for the church and all things God was unwavering, especially in her formative years when she devoted herself to reading, writing songs, and discussing the Lord.

Her love for her family was boundless. She was a cherished member of the singing group, the Willingaires, and her love for them was evident in her favorite songs, such as “I’m Gonna Lay down my Burdens, down by the Riverside” And O’ Lord I want you to Help me.

She grew tired, and the Lord knew she needed complete rest, so he brought her home.

If she could say anything to us all, she would say Trust in the Lord. It will be alright.

She leaves to cherish her memories her sisters Betty Hampton (David) of Dudley, NC, and Carolyn Lee of Goldsboro, NC; a brother, Linwood Russell (Kaye) of Chesterfield, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a special friend and roommate Renia McLamb.

Services of Love & Compassionate Care have been entrusted to Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors and Cremations, LLC.
