Doris Elizabeth Hartley Peele, 85, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 7, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home. Born in Wayne County on July 1, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Louise Pearce Hartley.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James Milton Tyner; brothers, Glenn Hartley and Larry Hartley; and son, Craig M. Tyner.

Her memory is cherished by her husband of 43 years, David (Skeeter) Peele; son, Mike Tyner (Susan); daughter, Tracy Brantham (Tim); daughter-in-law, Lisa Tyner; step-daughters, Jackie Lewis (Larry) and Roxie Davis (Sam); brother, Jesse Hartley (Jennifer); sister, Kathy Tyner (Michael Turnage); sister-in-law, Amy H. Hartley; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was a dedicated and faithful member of Riverside Free Will Baptist Church.

Doris took great pride in caring for her home and yard. She was passionate about her rose bushes, tending to them with an unmatched skill.

Family was paramount to Doris. Everyone knew they were her pride and joy. She cherished each moment spent with her loved ones.

A service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Pollock officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Madison and Natalie for their compassionate care.
