DUDLEY — On July 8, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Patrol “B” Shift responded to a domestic disturbance on Sleepy Creek Drive in Dudley.

While en route, deputies were informed that an individual at that location had been shot.

A subsequent investigation determined the shooting was self-defense. As a result of this investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Matthew Donnie Bryan, 41, Dudley, has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill two counts, assault inflicting serious bodily injury (2 counts), and assault on a female.

Bryan received no bond.
