July 29, 2024, 82, La Grange —
October 10, 1941 – July 29, 2024
Dixie Carol Thompson Hall, 82, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, while being cared for by her loving family. Dixie was born in Lenoir County to the late Troy Edward and Ellena Taylor Thompson on October 10, 1941.
Filled with a servant’s heart, Dixie spent much of her time serving others. She volunteered her time with the Eastern Carolina Pregnancy Center and the American Cancer Society and was constantly looking for ways to help family, friends, and neighbors. Whether providing a meal or offering a ride to the doctor’s office, Dixie was always looking out for others. Actively involved in her church, Dixie lived her faith through regular worship attendance and showing love to her neighbor.
Skilled in quilting, Dixie used her talents to bless her large family. Dixie ensured that each child and grandchild had their own lap quilt made especially for them.
Dixie had a great affinity for yard sales, whether it was holding one herself or attending every one she could. She loved a great bargain and was always on the hunt for a treasure that she couldn’t live without.
No matter the situation or time of day, Dixie wanted to look her best. Her wardrobe was always matching, and she dressed as if she was expecting guests—even in pajamas.
A fully-charged cellphone was always the top priority for Dixie. She never let her phone get out of her sight, and wouldn’t dare leave home without it. She loved talking on the phone and took the time to call each of her family members regularly. Before bed every night, she would check to make sure everyone was home. Dixie could rest well knowing her family was safe, and they could rest well knowing that Dixie cared for them.
A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Freedom Fellowship Church in Kinston with Pastor Steve Dixon officiating. Committal will follow in the Deaver Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Gail and Donnie Paderick.
