Morgan Resigning as Principal at Charles B. Aycock

PIKEVILLE — Ken Derksen, Wayne County Public Schools Executive Director for Community Engagement and Student and Family Support, confirmed to Goldsborodailynews.com late Monday afternoon that Charles B. Aycock High School principal Tod Morgan is resigning to pursue a position in another county.

Derksen also noted that no official date for Morgan’s resignation has been determined. Plans to fill the principal position at C.B. Aycock for the 2024-25 school year have also not been released.

The 2024-25 school year begins on Aug. 26.

Morgan was named principal at C.B. Aycock in December of 2021, after previously serving as principal at Jones Senior High School.

A native of Morehead City, Morgan is a graduate of West Carteret High School. He began his education career with the Hyde County Public Schools system in 1994 as a Health and Physical Education teacher.

Over the next 20 years, Morgan taught and served as a head basketball coach for numerous schools across the state, including Goldsboro High School and Charles B. Aycock.

In 2014, Morgan transitioned to school administration as an assistant principal at Pamlico County Middle School.

In 2015, Morgan served as assistant principal at Jones Senior High School before being named principal in 2019.

Morgan holds a bachelor’s degree in education, a master’s degree in sports administration, and a master’s degree in school administration.  Morgan also serves on the NCHSAA Board of Directors as a Representative for Region 2, which includes fourteen counties in Eastern North Carolina to include Wayne County.

In June, Morgan was named the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Bob Deaton Principal of the Year.
